The trailer for Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film *Main Vaapas Aaunga* was released on May 19, 2026. The drama, set across the 1947 Partition and present day, follows a dying elderly man (Naseeruddin Shah) who asks his grandson (Diljit Dosanjh) to fulfill a final wish to return to his ancestral hometown in present‑day Pakistan. The story interweaves his younger self (Vedang Raina) and his lover (Sharvari) in a 1947 romance shattered by Partition.

The cast also includes Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. Music is provided by A.R. Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, reuniting the trio that previously delivered several iconic scores. Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 12, 2026. Actress Alia Bhatt shared the trailer on Instagram, expressing enthusiasm for the project.

Imtiaz Ali described the film as a personal tale of love and longing that has endured for 78 years, reflecting the experiences of the generation that witnessed the Partition.
