Điện Biên urged to accelerate economic growth and digital transformation

During a working session with Điện Biên provincial leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc emphasized the need for the province to achieve significant improvements in both the scale and quality of economic growth. He urged a transition toward a growth model based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, while also promoting high-tech agriculture, industry, and services.

Điện Biên reported a GRDP growth of 8.67% in the first half of 2026, reaching approximately 15,437.32 billion VND. The province aims for a total annual growth rate of 11.02% for 2026, with specific targets of 11.67% for the third quarter and 14.22% for the fourth quarter. To support this, the province has implemented a “green lane” mechanism for administrative procedures, reducing processing times by over 82% for non-budgetary projects.

Key strategic priorities include accelerating the disbursement of public investment funds and advancing the Sơn La - Điện Biên - Tây Trang border gate expressway project. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted the importance of synchronized planning for energy resources and transmission infrastructure to prevent gaps between power generation and distribution capabilities.
