In-Edit Brazil documentary festival showcases musical films including Canecão tribute

The 18th edition of In-Edit Brazil, a documentary film festival dedicated to music, runs in São Paulo through 28 June. The program features 38 Brazilian and 28 international titles, covering subjects from legendary artists such as Dona Onete, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim to the historic Rio venue Canecão.

A centerpiece is the new documentary *Canecão – Tantas Emoções*, which revisits the former concert hall’s four‑decade legacy, interviewing figures like Roberto Carlos, Elymar Santos and dozens of musicians, staff and archivists who performed or worked there before its 2010 closure. Other screenings include profiles of Brazilian rock, hip‑hop, jazz and traditional music, illustrating the wide range of Brazil’s musical heritage.

The festival highlights the ongoing cultural significance of documentary cinema in preserving and celebrating the country’s diverse musical history.
