In-flight theft and credit card fraud arrests reported in Singapore and Thailand

Authorities in Singapore and Thailand have arrested individuals in connection with separate incidents of in-flight theft and credit card fraud involving passengers on flights within Asia.

In Singapore, two Chinese nationals, Shu Zaijun and Dong Bangjun, are set to face charges for allegedly stealing three bank cards from passengers' luggage in the overhead compartments during a VietJet flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore on October 12. If convicted, the men could face up to three years in prison and fines.

In Thailand, a 51-year-old Chinese man, Zheng Yu Qlang, was arrested at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport. He is accused of rummaging through overhead bins while passengers were asleep to steal cash and credit cards. The fraud, which involved unauthorized transactions in China, reportedly totaled approximately S$11,200. Investigators seized various credit cards, mobile phones, and cash from multiple countries upon his arrest.
