In Vitro acquires new leadership to scale plant cloning business

A group of five entrepreneurs has acquired In Vitro, a Catalan micropropagation laboratory located in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Barcelona. The company was founded 40 years ago by agronomist Josep Grau, who developed the Paulownia In Vitro 112, a plant species that has been exported to 35 countries.

The new ownership group includes Alex Weil, Alan Zettelmann, Nicolas Nagy, Aly Elshaboury, and biologist Celia Arias. The investors represent diverse origins, including Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, and Spain.

Under the new management, the company aims to significantly expand its operations. While the business reported revenues of approximately half a million euros last year, the new leadership has set a target to exceed nine million euros in turnover by 2030. Josep Grau will remain with the company as an honorary advisor.
