In Vitro series explores assisted reproduction dilemmas
The new Spanish series In Vitro, a co-production between HBO Max and 3Cat, explores the ethical, emotional, and social complexities of assisted reproduction. Set in a Barcelona fertility clinic, the drama follows Blanca, an embryologist, as she navigates her own personal dilemmas alongside the diverse cases of her patients.
Created by Alejandra Guimerà and Marc Crehuet, the production is inspired by the creators' own decade-long experience with fertility treatments. The series aims to provide a humanized look at modern family structures, bioethics, and the pressures of parenthood, covering various scenarios such as egg donation and the emotional toll of unsuccessful treatments.
The series stars Bruna Cusí and David Verdaguer and made its debut at the Serielizados festival in Barcelona.
