Ina Scharrenbach honors Altstadtfreunde Werne for monument preservation

Ina Scharrenbach, the Minister for Home Affairs and Municipal Affairs, attended the 11th anniversary celebration of the Altstadtfreunde Werne on October 4. The association is dedicated to preserving historical buildings and promoting awareness of sustainable values within the city of Werne.

During the event, Scharrenbach praised the group's commitment to monument protection, noting that private engagement is essential for the restoration and preservation of a city's identity and history. She highlighted that Werne possesses one of the few preserved historical town centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, though she noted that challenges remain regarding buildings that require solutions to prevent decay.
