Dominican Republic public health reports dental and surgical milestones

The National Health Service (SNS) has reported significant progress in oral health services within the Dominican Republic's public network. To mark World Dentist Day, the SNS highlighted that the public health system has provided over 7.3 million dental consultations and completed 554,554 procedures through various health campaigns.

The SNS utilizes 555 fixed dental units and 165 portable units to extend coverage to various communities nationwide. A key initiative, the “Restableciendo Sonrisas” (Restoring Smiles) program, has assisted 1,153 patients and provided 2,089 prostheses to help restore oral functionality and quality of life.

In separate health news, the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) has conducted specialized eye surgeries for nine public school students from various regions, including Santo Domingo and La Vega. These procedures addressed conditions such as strabismus and corneal issues, bringing the total number of students benefited by INABIE's surgical program to 42 during the current administration.
