INABIE school feeding bidding processes recognized by suppliers
Supplier associations representing the School Feeding Program (PAE) in the Dominican Republic have recognized the progress made by the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) regarding bidding processes for the Extended School Day.
The bidding process involved approximately 2,644 bidders, with 1,740 being awarded contracts. This represents one of the largest public procurement processes in the country. The associations noted that while many bidders were technically qualified, some remain on a waiting list due to high participation in certain provinces and limited available reference groups.
Furthermore, the organizations highlighted the strengthening of due diligence processes. Investigations and verifications triggered by complaints have helped detect irregular installations, such as “ghost kitchens,” which has contributed to increased transparency and equal opportunities for participating micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
