INAES and ADM partner to boost bioeconomy in Minas Gerais

The Instituto Antônio Ernesto de Salvo (INAES), the innovation and sustainability arm of Sistema Faemg Senar, has partnered with the multinational ADM to develop a bioeconomy model in Minas Gerais. Through the ADM Cares socio-environmental investment program, the initiative focuses on the valorization of native species, such as jenipapo, to generate income for small rural producers.

The project will initially be implemented in Northern Minas Gerais and the Jequitinhonha Valley, regions with some of the lowest Human Development Indices (HDI) in the state. The goal is to transform natural resources from the Cerrado and Caatinga biomes into economic opportunities while promoting environmental conservation and productive inclusion. Key actions include mapping natural occurrence areas, training collectors, and encouraging sustainable extraction practices with traceability and fair compensation.
