INAH denies Castillo de Chapultepec wedding rental after influencer controversy

Mexican influencer Estefanía Coppola posted videos of a private tour inside the historic Castillo de Chapultepec, saying the venue could be rented for her wedding for about one million pesos and calling the price "cheap." The posts sparked debate on social media about whether the museum, which houses the National Museum of History, can be used for private celebrations.

The Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) issued a statement clarifying that the Castillo de Chapultepec was not rented for a wedding or any private event. The visit featured Coppola and about 20 other people, took place in public areas, and complied with standard admission fees. INAH reiterated that the site only permits cultural, academic or scientific events, not private parties such as weddings.

The museum’s policy therefore remains unchanged, limiting rentals to non‑commercial, heritage‑preserving activities.
