INAIL allocates €667 million to Emilia‑Romagna hospitals while Calabria mayor questions fund distribution

The State‑Regions conference approved an INAIL investment plan that earmarks €667.2 million for health‑building projects in Emilia‑Romagna. Funding includes €1.47 billion for a new community hospital (Osco) in Medolla, €10.37 million for the Paralympic Centre in Villanova d’Arda, €70 million for a new hospital in Borgotaro, and €36.5 million for a new laboratory complex in Parma, as part of a broader €6.9 billion programme for urgent, socially useful health infrastructure.

In Calabria, Mayor Michele Tripodi of Polistena criticised the lack of INAIL money for his town’s hospital, despite a national announcement of roughly €1 billion for four Calabrian hospitals. He highlighted that Reggio‑Calabria facilities were omitted, questioned the whereabouts of previously announced €33 million for Polistena, and warned that the hospital could be forced to close unless funds are reallocated.

Regional leaders, including Emilia‑Romagna President Michele de Pascale and health assessor Massimo Fabi, hailed the investments as essential for modernising and securing care facilities, while Tripodi called for a revision of the programme to ensure “the right to health” for his community.
