Inaki Williams retires from Ghana national team

Athletic Club forward Inaki Williams has announced his retirement from international football, ending a four-year career with the Ghana national team. The 32-year-old forward shared his decision via a social media statement, expressing pride in his journey and stating that he has given everything to the Black Stars.

Williams, who was born in Bilbao, Spain, switched his international allegiance to Ghana in 2022 after previously representing Spain at the senior level in a 2016 friendly. During his tenure with Ghana, he made 28 appearances and scored two goals, both during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

His international career included participation in three major tournaments: the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following his retirement from international duty, Williams will focus on his club career with Athletic Club.
