INAPA evaluates new wells to improve water service in Barahona

The National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA) is evaluating land in the Barahona province to determine the construction sites for new tubular wells. A commission of central-level technicians and hydrologists is conducting these technical studies to improve the supply and distribution of potable water in areas currently facing service deficiencies.

Regional Director Elson Peña identified several strategic sectors for potential reinforcement, including the upper parts of Los Maestros, Altos de Blanquizales, and the neighborhoods of Balaguer, Miramar, La Montañita, and the areas surrounding Play de Duarte. Additional locations under evaluation include Caletón, Las Merceditas, Mencía de Enriquillo, and Arroyo Dulce.

The initiative follows commitments made by INAPA Executive Director Wellington Arnaud to address water shortages and strengthen the efficiency of local aqueducts.
