Inca footwear companies and artists launch comic shoe exhibition

Ten footwear companies from the Raiguer region and ten illustrators have collaborated on a unique project titled ‘La sabata dibuixada’ (The Drawn Shoe). The exhibition, held at the Shoe and Industry Museum of Inca, aims to transform traditional footwear into a narrative medium by integrating graphic stories directly into the leather design.

The creative process involved artists adapting their illustrations to shoe patterns and templates, ensuring that the narrative remains coherent once the various leather pieces are assembled. This required technical coordination between illustrators and manufacturers to manage color testing, printing on leather, and structural adjustments.

The exhibition marks the beginning of the 2026 CòmicNostrum International Festival. Participating brands include Lottusse, Carmina, Bestard, and Tony Mora, among others. One featured piece for Lottusse uses the medium to contrast historical and contemporary celebrations through subtle details in clothing and environment.
