Incat Tasmania to build Europe's largest electric ferries

Incat Tasmania is leading an ambitious maritime electrification project to construct three large electric ferries for the Danish operator Molslinjen. These vessels will serve the Kattegat maritime corridor, operating routes between Aarhus, Ebeltoft, and Odden.

Each ferry will have a length of 129 meters and the capacity to transport up to 1,500 passengers per trip. The ships are expected to reach speeds of approximately 74 km/h (40 knots) using an electric propulsion system developed by the Finnish firm Wärtsilä, utilizing water jet propulsion technology.

The project includes a significant charging infrastructure capable of supplying up to 58 MW of power, utilizing an automatic charging system developed by Wabtec.
