Incheon Airport launches MRO Hub Alliance to boost global aviation maintenance

Incheon International Airport Corporation has launched the ‘Incheon Airport MRO Hub Alliance’ to establish a robust maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) ecosystem. The alliance includes six major entities, such as Korean Air, Trinity Air, Sharp Technics K, and the Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute, aiming to strengthen Incheon Airport’s competitiveness in the global MRO market.

The alliance will operate under the ‘HUB’ framework: Harmony (building cooperative relationships and sharing business strategies), United Platform (serving as an integrated platform to collect industry feedback), and Brain Base (providing strategic support through expert policy advice and international promotion).

The global MRO market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 2.7% over the next decade, reaching approximately 271 trillion KRW by 2035. To support this growth, the corporation plans to establish specialized sub-committees, including an MRO Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Steering Committee and a Parts Maintenance Development Council.
