Incheon biotech firms seek advanced training for experienced workers

A recent survey by the Incheon Human Resources Development Committee involving 119 local biotechnology companies highlights a critical need for advanced job training for existing employees. The findings indicate that 75.4% of the 771 requested trainees are experienced workers, suggesting a demand for specialized skill enhancement rather than basic entry-level instruction.

Incheon’s biotech ecosystem distinguishes itself from other regions by focusing heavily on ‘white biotechnology,’ with 70.6% of responding companies specializing in eco-friendly biological materials and processes. Specific training demands include production site support, polymer process operation, and raw material pretreatment. Additionally, there is growing interest in convergence fields such as AI and robot-based smart bio-foundry operations and digital health platform marketing.

The Incheon Human Resources Development Committee plans to integrate these findings into its customized workforce development programs in the second half of the year to support technological advancement and employment stability within the regional industry.
