Incheon calls for better management of regional housing associations

A report by the Incheon Institute has highlighted the need for institutional mechanisms to manage regional housing associations in Incheon due to rising disputes and member damages. Of the 34 regional housing association projects currently underway in Incheon, 26 are in the member recruitment stage.

A previous inspection by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of 21 associations in Incheon revealed 49 instances of non-compliance, primarily regarding information disclosure and data management. Common issues include exaggerated advertising, mismanagement, disputes over land acquisition, and lawsuits regarding unfair financial demands.

The research suggests that current housing laws limit the ability of local governments to intervene effectively. Recommendations include urging the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to reflect local issues in upcoming law amendments, clarifying the roles of various stakeholders, and establishing management guidelines to minimize damage to members.
