Incheon City Theater Company to stage family drama ‘Bae:Ung’

The Incheon City Theater Company will present its 98th regular performance, a creative family drama titled ‘Bae:Ung’, from September 12 to 20 at the Incheon Culture and Arts Center Small Theater. Written and directed by Choi Jae-seong, the play explores the complexities of family relationships and unspoken emotions.

Set in a small rural house in Damyang, Jeonnam, the story follows two brothers who reunite after learning their father is nearing death in a nursing hospital. As they navigate the anxious and uncomfortable time spent waiting, the brothers confront past memories, current realities, and conflicting views of their family, reflecting on the connections often neglected in busy modern lives.

The production follows a successful ‘Reading Stage’ staged in August, which saw sold-out performances. This upcoming production features special appearance by Kim Se-gyeong, a veteran actor who served as a senior member of the Incheon City Theater Company for approximately 30 years. Artistic Director Lim Do-wan noted that the play is intended to help citizens reflect on the meaning of family ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
