Incheon City to relax building height restrictions in old city centers
Incheon City has announced plans to abolish height restrictions in the Subong, Jayu, and Wolmi altitude districts to facilitate urban renewal and tourism. The move aims to streamline overlapping regulations by integrating them into unified district unit plans.
In the Subong Park area, which has been subject to height limits for over 40 years, new regulations will allow buildings up to 12 stories (approximately 36 meters) depending on specific conditions. Developers may receive higher allowances if they secure at least 10% of the site area for pedestrian and rest spaces.
In the Wolmi area, maximum building heights will be increased by up to 10 meters, allowing structures of up to 20 stories (60 meters), provided they do not obstruct views of Wolmi Mountain. Near Jayu Park, height limits will be adjusted between 18 and 25 meters to balance urban development with views of the inner harbor.
