Incheon conducts infectious disease response drill

Incheon Metropolitan City conducted a practical crisis management training exercise on June 11 to strengthen response capabilities against new and re-emerging infectious diseases. The simulation was based on a scenario involving the entry of an Ebola virus patient into South Korea from overseas.

The drill involved multiple agencies, including the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the National Incheon Quarantine Station, local health centers, medical institutions, fire departments, police, and military units. Participants practiced procedures ranging from initial detection and reporting to epidemiological investigation, patient transport, isolation, and contact tracing.

The training also included specialized sessions such as a lecture on the clinical characteristics of Ebola and practical exercises in using personal protective equipment (PPE). To ensure effectiveness, participants used fluorescent substances to check for contamination during the donning and doffing of protective gear.
