Incheon distributes reflective pants to improve elderly pedestrian safety

Incheon Metropolitan City is distributing ‘Shining Ilbaji’ (reflective work pants) to improve the nighttime walking safety of elderly residents in rural areas. The pants feature reflective materials designed to increase visibility, allowing drivers to identify pedestrians more easily in the dark.

A pilot distribution conducted in August during traffic accident prevention training in Ganghwa County showed high demand. Out of 200 elderly participants surveyed, 97.5% reported feeling that dark roads are dangerous, and 98.5% indicated that the reflective pants would be helpful for their safety.

Incheon plans to continue distributing the clothing in connection with ongoing traffic safety education for seniors. To mark Senior Citizens' Day on October 2, the city is also hosting an online event on its official YouTube channel from September 29 to October 5, offering the reflective pants and coffee coupons to selected participants.
