Incheon expands Camp Market public space and connects to Buyoung Park
Incheon Metropolitan City has expanded the public access area of Camp Market in Bupyeong-gu to a total of 58,800 square meters. This expansion follows the completion of soil decontamination in a specific section of Area B, adding 9,500 square meters to the previously available space.
To improve urban connectivity, the city has also opened a new pedestrian passage linking Camp Market with the adjacent Buyoung Park. This connection resolves a previous barrier created by perimeter walls, allowing for more seamless movement between the two green spaces. The newly developed area includes walking trails, flower gardens, screening vegetation, and streetlights to enhance safety and leisure opportunities for residents.
Before constructing the connection, the city conducted human health risk assessments regarding soil contamination to ensure the area is safe for public use. The expansion is part of a phased approach that began in May 2021, aimed at gradually increasing green space in the urban center as decontamination milestones are met.
