Incheon expands ‘Deep-rooted Families’ list to 51 groups

Incheon Metropolitan City has expanded its ‘Deep-rooted Families’ program to a total of 51 families. During a recent ceremony, the city presented a plaque of appreciation to the Yeon-an Lee Clan Jangryeonggongpa Yeonhui Clan, the latest group to be officially recognized.

The program identifies families that have resided in Incheon for over 200 years or those that hold Incheon as their ancestral seat, aiming to preserve local history and tradition. The Yeon-an Lee Clan has been settled in the Yeonhui-dong area of Incheon for approximately 300 years, contributing significantly to the local community and the succession of traditional culture.

Mayor Park Chan-dae stated that the history of families rooted in a region for centuries is a precious cultural asset and a part of Incheon’s own history. The city plans to continue discovering the stories of families that have long shared a history with Incheon to enhance their sense of pride and traditional value.
