Incheon Institute of Health and Environment develops AI noise platform

The Incheon Institute of Health and Environment has developed an integrated noise analysis platform utilizing generative AI. The system is designed to automatically classify noise sources and visualize environmental noise measurement data on maps, allowing for easier identification of noise characteristics by time and region.

During a recent practical demonstration for noise complaint officials from Incheon and its various districts, the platform's ability to move beyond simple numerical measurements to qualitative analysis was showcased. The institute developed the tool through iterative dialogue and feedback with generative AI, marking a first instance of applying such technology to environmental research and administrative tasks in the region. The institute plans to refine the platform based on field feedback and eventually expand AI applications to other environmental data analysis sectors.
