Incheon Institute prepares to host 11th MeTTA Forum in 2027

The Incheon Institute participated in the 10th Megacity Think Tank Alliance (MeTTA) Forum held in Beijing, China, to discuss preparations for the 11th forum scheduled to take place in Incheon in 2027.

During the event, Incheon Institute Vice President Yoon Ha-yeon highlighted Incheon’s strategic advantages, including Incheon International Airport, Incheon Port, and the economic free zones of Songdo, Cheongna, and Yeongjong. For the 2027 forum, the institute proposed a central theme focusing on “future city concepts in the era of demographic changes and artificial intelligence,” addressing issues such as population decline, aging societies, and the impact of AI on urban spaces and public services.

Additionally, researcher Jeong Yun-jin presented on the reorganization of urban spaces through global AI governance. The presentation emphasized the necessity of establishing practical environments for developing and verifying AI technologies within actual cities and industrial sites, rather than merely attracting international organizations and research facilities. MeTTA members agreed to expand cooperation through international joint research and the sharing of urban policy best practices.
