Incheon intensifies fire prevention and police safety inspections

Incheon’s Gyeyang‑district office held a meeting on 23 March, chaired by deputy mayor Im Won‑jong, to review progress on fire‑prevention measures in the area’s dense small‑factory zone after a large blaze in October 2022. The district is installing large extinguishers, securing fire‑truck access routes, inspecting illegal structures, enforcing administrative penalties, checking factory registrations, providing fire‑prevention guidance and establishing an emergency contact network with factories.

On the same day, Incheon Police Chief Kim Chang‑hun visited Ganghwa Island’s Gisang police substation and Dongmak Beach to inspect law‑enforcement and tourism safety. He praised officers for a recent drug‑arrest, reviewed summer‑season safety for tourists, and examined traffic‑safety actions, including special patrols, joint operations with community groups and a July‑August special response period targeting drink‑driving and traffic violations. The chief called for proactive, preventive policing to keep residents and visitors safe.
