Incheon International Airport hits record Chuseok passenger numbers

Incheon International Airport recorded its highest-ever passenger numbers for the Chuseok holiday period between September 23 and 27. During this time, the airport saw a total of 1,099,025 passengers, with a daily average of 219,805 travelers, representing a 1% increase compared to the previous year.

International travel was primarily directed toward Japan (28.2%), Southeast Asia (21.1%), and China (19.7%). Flight operations also reached record levels, with a total of 6,519 flights, averaging 1,304 per day. On September 25 and 27, the airport hit peak daily operations with 1,310 flights each.

To manage the surge, the Incheon International Airport Corporation implemented special transportation measures in collaboration with government agencies and airlines. These included opening departure halls 30 minutes early, increasing the use of CT X-ray equipment, and expanding self-check-in and self-bag-drop services. Despite the high volume, average waiting times at the Terminal 1 departure hall remained low, with peak wait times reaching only 12 minutes.
