Incheon launches climate action campaign on Deokjeokdo
Incheon Metropolitan City, in collaboration with the Incheon Sustainable Development Council, launched a ‘Climate Action Practice Campaign’ on Deokjeokdo island to promote carbon neutrality and proper waste disposal among summer tourists. The initiative aims to support the ‘Waste-Free Island’ value declared for 2025 and reduce the environmental impact of increased seasonal visitors.
Activities were held at key transit points, including the Incheon Port Terminal and Deokjeokdo pier. The campaign featured interactive programs such as climate action briefings, OX quizzes, and pledges for individual environmental commitments. The event was organized as part of the Deokjeokdo Resident Autonomy Committee’s climate action program, involving local residents, volunteers, and government officials to foster community-led sustainability.
Incheon plans to expand these life-oriented climate campaigns and develop customized environmental activities tailored to island regions to increase public awareness of resource circulation and carbon neutrality policies.
