Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae faces criticism and calls for regional peace

Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae is facing criticism from the People Power Party Incheon City Chapter as he marks 100 days in office. The party issued a commentary stating that the Mayor must move beyond merely reversing the policies of his predecessor and instead demonstrate tangible achievements and a clear vision for the city.

Specific criticisms include the handling of the Incheon e-Eum local currency program, which was suspended and then resumed in a reduced capacity, as well as a lack of progress on major transportation, environmental, and port authority integration issues. The party also raised concerns regarding recent controversies involving the Mayor’s close aides.

Separately, Mayor Park addressed the 19th anniversary of the October 4th Inter-Korean Joint Declaration. He emphasized that peace in Incheon is defined by the safe daily lives of residents in the West Sea Five Islands and the stability of local fishermen. He expressed a commitment to preparing for future inter-Korean dialogue and maintaining the vision of a peaceful West Sea cooperation zone.
