Incheon named outstanding institution for safety inspections for fourth consecutive year
Incheon Metropolitan City has been named an outstanding institution for four consecutive years in the 2026 Republic of Korea Intensive Safety Inspection evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Between April 20 and June 19, Incheon conducted inspections across 848 locations in 10 categories, including multi-use facilities, transportation, and industrial sites. The initiative involved 3,489 experts, including civil servants, engineers, and architects. Using advanced technology such as drones and thermal imaging cameras, the city identified risk factors in 414 locations. These findings resulted in 184 immediate on-site corrections, 228 cases requiring repair or reinforcement, and two cases requiring detailed safety diagnoses.
The city emphasized public participation through a resident inspection application system and utilized short-form video content to promote safety culture. Officials stated that the focus remains on ensuring that identified risks lead to actual facility improvements and maintaining a prevention-oriented disaster management system.
