Incheon National University hosts modular design innovation school in Singapore

The Incheon National University (INU) Anchor (RISE) Project Group, in collaboration with the Modular Design Research Group of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers, conducted the 3rd Global Modular Design Innovation School in Singapore from October 12 to 15.

Aligned with Incheon City’s ‘ABC+E’ future industry strategy (AI, Bio, Contents, and Energy), the program aimed to enhance manufacturing innovation capabilities through AI and robotics while expanding global industry-academic networks. Participants included 12 experts from major corporations such as Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics, faculty from Incheon National University and Korea University, and representatives from local Incheon enterprises.

The program featured keynote lectures on product architecture and modular design at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Participants also toured 3D printing and robotics research facilities, visited Schaeffler, and observed advanced AI and robot-integrated production systems at the Hyundai Motor Group Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS).

Kim Kyu-won, head of the INU Anchor Project Group, stated that the initiative serves as a foundation for discovering joint projects with overseas universities and companies to drive product development and process innovation for Incheon-based industries.
