Incheon official urges new Yeonan Pier Station construction

Incheon City Council member Yun Hee-jeong has called for the establishment of a new Yeonan Pier Station on the Yonghyeon-Seochang Line to address severe traffic congestion in the Yeonan Pier fish market area. Yun noted that while the recent addition of seven large logistics warehouses has increased freight volume, the existing road infrastructure remains outdated.

Previous attempts to include the station in regional rail plans, such as the proposed Incheon Line 4 and Incheon Line 3, were rejected due to low economic feasibility (B/C) scores. Yun argued that the city should not focus solely on short-term economic metrics and instead prioritize the basic mobility rights of local residents and islanders using the coastal passenger terminal. She urged the city to conduct precise demand forecasting and strengthen communication with residents to ensure the station's inclusion in future administrative procedures.
