Incheon announces urban regeneration and celebrates Citizen's Day

Incheon Metropolitan City celebrated its 62nd Citizen's Day with a festival at Incheon Grand Park, marking the introduction of a new administrative slogan: ‘A New Standard, Now the Incheon Era!’ Mayor Park Chan-dae emphasized the concept of ‘Incheon Re-rating,’ aiming to elevate the city's value by leveraging its global airport, ports, and growing high-tech industries like bio and semiconductors.

Parallel to these celebrations, the city announced a major urban regeneration project for the Jemulpo Open Port area. Incheon plans to invest 26.1 billion KRW by 2032 to transform the 537,114 square meter district into a stay-over tourism hub. The initiative seeks to shift the area from short-term visits to long-term tourism by integrating modern historical assets with improved infrastructure.

The project will be implemented in stages, starting with short-term pilot programs such as the Incheon Station Plaza environment improvement and the Jemulpo Time Road project. Long-term goals include establishing a comprehensive management system and seeking up to 15 billion KRW in national subsidies to create a sustainable cultural and tourism center.
