Incheon Port Authority launches AI vessel departure prediction service

Incheon Port Authority has announced the launch of an AI-driven vessel departure time prediction service. Developed by Surff Company as part of the ‘2026 Startup and Venture Port Logistics AI Transformation Support Project’, the service utilizes public data provided by the authority to enhance logistics efficiency.

The AI analyzes historical voyage records, terminal workload, and cargo handling data to predict when a vessel will complete operations and depart. Unlike standard schedules, this service provides estimated arrival or delay times along with the reasoning behind the AI’s calculation. This allows shippers and freight forwarders to better manage urgent import schedules and minimize logistics disruptions.

To support this development, Incheon Port Authority improved its data structures by adding International Maritime Organization (IMO) identification numbers to its API and provided approximately one year of terminal congestion data for model training. The authority has consistently received high marks in government evaluations for its public data management and aims to continue supporting startups to drive digital transformation in the port logistics sector.
