Incheon residents show 94% support for Citizen Safety Insurance

A survey conducted by Incheon Metropolitan City involving 5,108 residents shows overwhelming support for the Citizen Safety Insurance program. Approximately 94% of respondents indicated the insurance is necessary, while 91% agreed that it helps protect citizens against disasters and accidents.

Key findings from the survey include:

- Most helpful current coverage: Injuries during public transportation use (30%), followed by explosion, fire, or collapse injuries (26%). - Most requested additional coverage: Death or disability resulting from ground subsidence (47%) and diagnosis fees for heat-related illnesses (34%). - Demand for increased limits: 60% of respondents requested an increase in death benefit limits, and 59% requested an increase in disability benefit limits.

While there is strong demand for expanded coverage, some respondents advised that the city should consider fiscal conditions and avoid redundant coverage with private insurance or liable third parties. Incheon Metropolitan City plans to use these results to refine the 2027 Citizen Safety Insurance operational plan and prepare for next year's insurance contract.
