Incheon to build new Social Welfare Center in Hakik-dong
Incheon Metropolitan City is accelerating the construction of a new Incheon Social Welfare Center in Hakik-dong, Michuhol-gu. The project involves a 65.6 billion won investment to build a facility consisting of two buildings: a 9-story main structure and a community space including a library and cafe.
The new center aims to address issues faced by the existing facility in Ganseok-dong, which suffers from aging infrastructure, limited space, and parking difficulties. Mayor Park Chan-dae emphasized that the new location will serve as a hub for discussing and creating social welfare policies.
While the city initially aimed for completion by 2025, the timeline has been pushed back due to delays in soil decontamination processes at the site. Administrative procedures, including design competitions, are expected to conclude this year, with construction slated to begin in the first half of next year. The project is currently targeted for completion by the end of 2029.
