A fatal fire broke out at the Padre Menni psychiatric clinic in the Rochapea neighborhood of Pamplona, Spain, on a Saturday night. The blaze, which started in a ground-floor room around 20:55, resulted in the death of a 56-year-old female resident.

Emergency services reported that 18 people were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. Among the injured, a 62-year-old man remains in intensive care, while others are being treated in resuscitation and observation units. Six clinic employees were also among those treated for smoke inhalation.

As a preventive measure, approximately 50 patients were relocated to other facilities within the network. The National Police have detained a female resident of the clinic on suspicion of intentionally starting the fire. Investigators are working to clarify the circumstances, noting the complexity of determining criminal responsibility given the suspect's mental health status. The clinic, operated by the Hermanas Hospitalarias, is a major mental health reference center in the Navarra region.
