Inclusion initiatives held in Crato and Guimarães
Various social inclusion and anti-poverty initiatives were recently held in Portugal. In Crato, the Jardim Temático hosted commemorations for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and the Municipal Day for Equality. The event, themed ‘A Place for All People’, featured an exhibition by several local institutions and a performance by the Crato Senior Academy Choir to promote equality of opportunity and social inclusion.
In Guimarães, the Maré Sizígia Project organized an inclusive parade through the historic center to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities to participate in cultural and artistic life. Promoted by CERCIGUI with municipal support, the initiative involved 13 institutions and featured creative works made from reusable materials inspired by the ocean. Organizers emphasized that inclusion should be treated as an effective right rather than a concession.
