Inclusion initiatives highlighted in Argentina and Uruguay
In Sáenz Peña, Argentina, the local municipality and the Mesa por la Inclusión have announced a series of activities for October to mark Special Education Month. The program aims to promote inclusion and visibility for institutional work through various community events. Key activities include a recreational day at the Municipal Ecological Complex on October 6, an Inclusive Fair at Plaza Alfonsina on October 16 featuring student productions and musical performances, and a walk organized by the Crecer con Todos institution on October 30.
In Uruguay, the Inclusive Education Chair of the Centro de Formación Permanente hosted a discussion titled ‘Transiciones: Ser Trans en la Educación Pública’. The event focused on the educational experiences of transgender individuals, highlighting challenges such as identity-based discrimination and the unauthorized use of legal names by educators. Participants discussed the emotional distress caused by privacy violations and the additional social scrutiny faced by students living in smaller, interior cities.
