Income Tax Appellate Tribunal announces 42 recruitment posts for 2026

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), a semi‑judicial body under India’s Ministry of Law and Justice, has opened applications for 42 Group B posts – 22 Senior Private Secretaries and 20 Private Secretaries. Vacancies are allocated across reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS) and the General category. Applications are accepted online from 18 July to 16 August. Candidates must hold a recognised graduate degree, be able to write English shorthand at 120 words per minute, and possess basic computer skills; the maximum age is 35 years, with relaxations for reserved categories. Selection will be based on a written exam, a skill test and an interview. Salary ranges from ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100 for Senior Private Secretaries and ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400 for Private Secretaries. Written and skill tests will be conducted at nine centres: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
