Income Tax officials seize Rs 10.3 crore in cash near Bengaluru

Income Tax officials and Bengaluru police have seized a total of Rs 10.3 crore in unaccounted cash following an interception of a vehicle near Electronic City. The operation began on the night of August 18, when police stopped a Kerala-registered car traveling from Bengaluru toward Hosur after receiving a tip from the Income Tax Department regarding the suspected illegal transportation of funds.

During the initial search of the vehicle, officials recovered Rs 9 crore. Two individuals were taken into custody, including a 42-year-old man identified as Sachin, who is associated with Sindhu Jewellers in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

Following the initial seizure, the investigation expanded to Tamil Nadu, where officials searched a residence linked to the suspects. An additional Rs 1.3 crore was recovered at the location. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the funds, their intended destination, and the purpose of the transport.
