Incucai updates kidney transplant regulations in Argentina
The National Central Unique Coordinator of Ablation and Implantation (Incucai) has updated the regulations governing kidney transplants in Argentina. Through Resolution 375/2026, published in the Official Gazette, the agency has introduced changes to waiting list management, organ distribution criteria, and cross-kidney donation processes.
A primary focus of the new regulation is the promotion of preemptive kidney transplants, which are performed before a patient requires dialysis. This approach is intended to improve survival rates for both the patient and the transplanted organ. Data from November 2022 to October 2024 showed that only 4% of patients on the renal waiting list fell into this category, with 38 preemptive transplants performed during that period.
The update also establishes stricter requirements for medical facilities to ensure higher quality of care and aims to reduce barriers to treatment access.
