INDAP begins distributing animal feed in Ñuble region

The Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) has begun distributing 65 tons of multi-species concentrated animal feed to 130 producers in the Ñuble region of Chile. This early aid follows recent wind and rain fronts that caused significant damage to local livestock and pastures.

To date, INDAP has identified approximately 1,200 producers affected by the weather events in the region. While 18% of these producers have suffered losses to livestock or pastures, the remaining majority have faced damage to irrigation systems and infrastructure, impacting sectors such as vegetables, cereals, fruits, apiculture, and poultry.

Authorities are currently using the Silvo-Agricultural Affection Sheet (FAS) to assess total damage across 21 communes. Preliminary estimates suggest the total cost for early aid and medium-to-long-term productive recovery could reach $1.1 billion Chilean pesos.
