Inde Navarrette Details 18‑Month Job Drought After ‘Obsession’ Box‑Office Success

Inde Navarrette rose to prominence as the lead in the low‑budget horror film *Obsession*, which earned over $300 million worldwide on a $750,000 budget. Despite the film’s surprise hit status, Navarrette told Complex that “I didn’t work for a year and a half after ‘Obsession’” and spent the period auditioning without landing any roles. To cover living expenses she streamed video games, walked dogs and even built her own PC during the COVID lockdown.

She recalled a grueling audition process, describing a Zoom read that “was awful” and a final chemistry read that secured her the part. After the film’s release she received congratulatory messages from celebrities, including a DM from rapper Big Sean that read, “Keep up the work, you pure thespian.”

Navarrette, who grew up in a military family and moved frequently, said the experience highlighted how even actors attached to a blockbuster can face prolonged uncertainty. She is now preparing for her next major role in the upcoming thriller *Invertigo*, produced by the team behind *Fall* and *Obsession*.
