Indecopi urges suspension of Huacachina tubular vehicle tours due to safety risks

Indecopi has urged the Regional Government of Ica (GORE Ica) to consider suspending tourist services involving tubular vehicles in the Huacachina dunes if operators fail to implement adequate safety measures. This recommendation follows a series of accidents involving both domestic and foreign tourists.

Recent incidents include a rollover on July 18, 2026, which injured ten people and resulted in a tourist losing her right arm. This follows fatal accidents in 2025 in Huacachina and Usaka that claimed the lives of two tourists.

In a related administrative action, Indecopi's regional office in Ica issued first-instance sanctions against companies Aventura Sin Fronteras E. I. R. L. and Lima Experience S. A. C. Each company was fined 450 UIT for failing to uphold safety duties during a May 2025 excursion that resulted in a fatality. Since 2025, Indecopi has been coordinating with the Regional Government of Ica and the Provincial Municipality of Ica to address these recurring risks.
