Independencia railway overpass in Morelia to open in September

The Independencia railway overpass in Morelia, Michoacán, is scheduled for full inauguration this September. The mega-structure, located near the Police and Transit area, aims to resolve traffic conflicts at the intersection of the railway tracks and the Morelia Periférico.

According to Jorge Humberto Villegas García, Subsecretary of Communications and Public Works, the project involved an investment of 349 million pesos. The area currently handles between 70,000 and 72,000 vehicles daily. The infrastructure is designed to benefit over 190,000 residents in the southern part of the capital.

The project includes a multi-functional underpass equipped with recreational and sports facilities, such as a padel court, skatepark, outdoor gym, and children's playground. The work is in its final stages, with remaining tasks including the pouring of concrete for lateral lanes, painting, and the installation of road signage.
