Independent book industry events scheduled for late October in Germany

Germany will host two major literary events starting October 31, 2026. The BUCHBERLIN book fair will take place at Arena Berlin on October 31 and November 1, featuring over 300 independent publishers and authors. The fair focuses on smaller publishers and self-publishers, offering genres ranging from fantasy and romance to non-fiction and graphic novels. The event includes moderated discussions in reading rooms, workshops, and creative sessions regarding writing and publishing.

Simultaneously, the Week of Independent Bookstores (WUB) will begin on October 31. This nationwide initiative includes more than 350 events across Germany, such as readings, signings, and bookstore crawls. The program features various authors, including Sebastian Fitzek and Tanja Kokoska. The WUB is organized by the independent book trade to highlight the cultural and economic importance of local bookstores.
