Independent horror films River and Cinefiend gain attention

New independent horror films are gaining attention within the genre community. Joshua Giuliano’s slasher film, River, features Jane Levy, Jessica Rothe, and Max Mattern. The plot follows three siblings who reunite to spread their father’s ashes, only to be terrorized by a masked killer during a brutal encounter on a river.

Additionally, filmmaker Michael S. Rodriguez is set to premiere his slasher feature, Cinefiend, on The Monster Channel on October 2. The film follows a horror hostess named Dara as her studio crew members are murdered in ways that mirror the movie she is broadcasting. The production features an ensemble cast including Sparkle Soojian, Felissa Rose, and Sally Kirkland.
